Wed Feb 06, 2008 at 11:21:37 AM PDT

Los Alamos - Scientists rushed to attend a hastily assembled press conference Wednesday morning to reveal the discovery of a potential breakthrough that holds the promise of a free, inexhaustible, supply of relatively clean energy.  Dr. Surah Spock of the National Laboratories revealed that a recent series of tests indicates a probability that earth's dependence on fossil fuels may be a thing of the past.

Bono rocks the NAACP awards-UPDATED w/Transcript

Mon Mar 05, 2007 at 07:23:55 PM PDT

While checking out the latest Rude Pundit smackdown of Ann Coulter, ran across this link to Bono's acceptance speech for the 2007 NAACP Image Awards Chairman's Award.

http://www.youtube.com/...

If you have about 5 minutes to watch, check it out.  His remarks on human rights and poverty were moving and brought the audience to its feet.

I'm not usually one who gives a lot of thought to heritage or ethnic identity but Bono stirs up a bit of Irish pride.

And on a side note, if you are a U2 fan and have never heard 'Silver and Gold' live version, turn in your membership right now!

Ok, here is a rough transcript below, I've left out the opening pleasantries where Bono thanks the presenters and jokes around with Tyra Banks a bit.

Watch it if you can, the text dosen't do it justice.

I will shed no tears for Stanley Williams

I have been lurking on this site for over a year now but have not been an active participant in the discussion until now.  Primarily, this is due to the fact that, while I consider myself a Democrat, I am afraid that my views on a couple of issues remove me from the realm of the ideologically pure.  And so I am loathe to broach this topic but I feel I must speak my mind.
