Free Netroots Nation Registration
Mon Jul 07, 2008 at 06:36:18 PM PDT
I sadly cannot attend and am looking to give away a registration.
Any takers? There are instructions that I will send from a representative of Netroots Nation to the person that makes me laugh the hardest.
Good Luck.
Dana Perino - Too ignorant to be Press Secretary?
Sat Dec 08, 2007 at 01:22:43 PM PDT
I guess in the Bush White House, one is never too ignorant to be considered for a top position.
We have seen her blunder, stutter and generally stumble around the truth when trying to defend Bush and his blundering, stuttering and stumbling.
Today, Dana's ignorance regarding United States history was on full display. She appeared on NPR's "Wait, wait, Don't Tell Me" and she blundered when asked about the Cuban Missile Crisis.
I never like to judge people on their looks alone, but it has become patently obvious that she was chosen for her looks, not her brains, and certainly not her education.
Labor Unions: Which candidate do they really support? Updated.
Tue Sep 25, 2007 at 08:43:42 AM PDT
The UAW strike is a good time to examine who has union support and who does not. There have been comments made about who spoke out first in support of the UAW in their strike against GM. As if it the heart and soul of union support can be measured if one spoke out in favor of the UAW at 2:00 p.m. vs. 4:00 p.m.
The endorsements garnered by our front runners paints a more accurate picture than the latest pro-union speeches, or position statements in support of the strike.
Let's examine the endorsements as of today. No hyperbole, no anecdotes, no distortion of voting records, policy positions and speeches, just the facts on their union endorsements. I believe that the actions of the unions speak louder than their words.
If you know of other endorsements made by labor unions that were not mentioned here, I will update the diary to reflect any additions that I may have missed. To be consistent, I used the number of members that the article stated that each union currently lists. Full disclosure: I am an Edwards supporter at this point in time.
In the year 2024, the cicadas have returned.
Sat Jun 16, 2007 at 07:05:06 PM PDT
Let's fast forward 17 years to the year 2024. The seventeen year cicadas have returned and after many years of underground sap sucking, what has changed?
It is the year 2024. Many years have passed since the Dark Ages of America, otherwise known national shame of the "Bush Years", 2001-2009, came to a close. The funny bugs that are known as the Seventeen Year Cicadas are once again emerging in the Midwest. What has changed since 2007 when the last birth and death cycle of the cicadas played out?
Who would you choose?

Devilstower wrote a telling piece today about the type of loaded questions given to Democrats vs. the softballs given to Republicans:
This past weekend, I made a post suggesting that the Democratic candidates need to make better responses to the questions asked in the media "debates," and not allow the moderators to lead them into defensive positions. As the Republicans get ready to line up for another game of softball tonight, I thought it would be interesting to look at the other end of this affair. Just what did the good ol' MSNBC boys ask Democratic candidates when compared to Republican candidates?
How many are serving?
Thu Jan 11, 2007 at 12:22:35 PM PDT
Bush's speech last night made me very angry, but we all knew that what his plan for Iraq was long before he announced it. Now we are worrying about a wider war in Iran and Syria even though the Iraq effort was a complete failure.
I wrote a diary earlier this week about my nephew being recalled back into the army two years after he was discharged. He fought at Mosul and is not eager to return to Iraq.
After reading so many of the anti-escalation diaries and comments, I was stunned to see how many had family, friends, or just knew of people who are serving now or are being recalled back to active duty.
The coming escalation hits home...
Tue Jan 09, 2007 at 01:02:22 PM PDT
We were just informed that my nephew has been called back to active duty, most likely in Iraq. He served three years in the Army from February 2002, to February 2005, fought bravely at Mosul, and was lucky to return home to his family. Now that has all changed.
More below the fold.

I received an invitation in the mail today for the Illinois Victory 2006 fundraiser. I wish that my enthusiasm for attending matched my pocketbook.
